What is Solid Surface ?

Solid surface is a man-made material made out of alumina trihydrate (ATH), acrylic, epoxy, or polyester resins, as well as colors. It’s most commonly used for countertop installs that are completely seamless.
DuPont first introduced solid surface in 1967 under the name Corian. Other manufacturers have joined the market with their own branded products since their patent expired.

Applications:–

In the following situations, solid surfaces are used-

Kitchen/Bathroom: kitchen worktops with integrated sink, vanity countertop, bath tub etc.
Hospitality/Catering: bars, tables, reception desks etc.
Shop Fitting: displays, counters, wall cladding etc.
Airports: check-in counters
Public buildings: displays in museums, facades, meeting tables etc.
Hospitals: laboratory countertops, decontamination sinks, endoscopy etc

Although most dark hues appear white to the naked eye, they are not suggested for high-traffic areas.

Advantage of Solid Surface:-

Bacteria will not be able to absorb and grow in non-porous materials. As a result, solid surface is an excellent choice for medical facilities in hospitals as well as for maintaining hygiene and wellness in your house.
Seamless joints have the appearance of a single sheet.
Solid surfaces may be easily repaired and polished to seem as good as new. They also take a lot less time to repair.
Solid surfaces have a wider range of colors and textures than granite, which has fewer alternatives.
When compared to granite, most solid surfaces are less expensive.
When compared to granite, join free material results in reduced material waste.
The process of thermoforming allows solid surfaces to be turned into unique shapes using heat.

Disadvantage of Solid Surface:–

They are less durable than granite because they are more easily damaged.
Unlike granite, you can’t use it as a cutting board right away.
