Different types of Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) flooring and Advantage

What is PVC Flooring ?

Poly vinyl chloride (PVC), also known as “vinyl,” is used in a number of flooring products, including those that have a faux wood grain appearance. It’s made of a plasticized PVC that’s been designed for usage in both homes and workplaces. PVC is water-resistant and noted for its long-lasting sturdiness. While older vinyl flooring lacked aesthetic detail, current PVC wood flooring comes in a variety of colors, textures, and patterns that are highly realistic.

Types of Flooring

On the market today, there are three primary varieties of wood vinyl flooring. The first two are quite classic and have been around for a long time. They are tiles and roll flooring. You get the cheapest pricing and the quickest installation with roll flooring, but it has the least realistic look and feel. To simulate the look of parquet flooring, tiles are created in a variety of wood parquet patterns. The most recent wood PVC flooring is a plank style flooring called luxury or deluxe vinyl that looks like hardwood floors. It is made up of board-width planks that are adhered to one another.

1. Selecting Your Floor

The major considerations, like with any other flooring product, are matching your style, staying within your budget, and understanding the installation needs. To begin, choose a hue and texture that complements your decor. Begin with the woodwork that already exists. If it’s stained rather than painted, choose a floor that complements the color and grain of the wood or contrasts with it. Next, determine which type of flooring best meets your budget and installation capabilities, and then choose the flooring you choose from that product.

2. Installation

The entire space is covered at once using roll flooring. Carefully measure the space and cut your floor to fit. Apply glue to the entire installation area and roll out the floor from one wall to the other. With a weighted floor roller, press the floor into position. To hide any gaps, install trim along the outside border of the floor. Begin by drawing a T in the center of your room, running in both directions. Working outwards from the middle toward the wall, lay tile along the T’s lines. Tiles will either be self-adhesive or require the application of adhesive to each tile. Tiles should be cut to fit along the wall. A miter saw or rotary tool with a cutting blade accessory may easily accomplish this.

3. Luxury Vinyl Installation

Luxury vinyl flooring sticks to itself rather than the subfloor, allowing it to “float” like laminate. Instead of a locking joint along the boards’ long edges, each edge has an adhesive strip. Starting along one wall, with the adhesive strip facing away from the wall, planks are installed. Each plank is glued to the wall from end to end, with additional rows applied along the long edge. After the installation is complete, a weighted floor roller can be used to press the floor into place.
